We warmly invite you to join us for a day of eco-friendly experiences, local gastronomy, cultural discoveries, and connection at Interreg Cooperation Day 2026 – a celebration of the Slovenia–Hungary border region, its people, sustainable tourism, and inspiring cooperation projects.
The event titled One Day, Two Countries, Joint Adventures, hosted by the Interreg Programme Slovenia-Hungary and a co-financed project, will take place on Saturday, 19th September 2026.
This year’s special event, organised in cooperation with the CROSSDEST project, invites participants to discover the Slovenian-Hungarian border region through active and eco-friendly experiences, local gastronomy and cultural discoveries. Participants can choose from a range of exciting activities taking place around Hévíz (Hungary) and Murska Sobota (Slovenia).

What to Expect?
9:15 – Registration (arrival of buses) followed by refreshments at Hévíz, Hungary
9:30 – Welcome speeches
10:00 – Active and eco-friendly experiences, local gastronomy and cultural discoveries
Active Programme – Hévíz–Rezi–Hévíz cycling tour
Participants can join a 2-hour guided e-bike tour between Hévíz and Rezi and back, covering approximately 15 km, organised within the Hévíz Picnic Box pilot program. The program provides everything needed for a safe and enjoyable cycling experience, including e-bikes, qualified cycling guides, insurance, technical and logistical support, and an accompanying vehicle. Along the route, participants will also have the opportunity to stop at local producers and discover the flavours of the region.
Eco Programme – Gyenesdiás and Hévíz
The 2-hour guided eco programme connects two destinations and highlights local environmental and tourism initiatives. The programme includes a visit to “Természet Háza (House of Nature)” in Gyenesdiás, where the accessibility of the attraction was improved through the project. This program element is especially well suited to families with children, offering an enjoyable and engaging experience for all ages. Organised bus transport, professional guides and full logistical support will make the experience easy and enjoyable for participants.
Guided Geobotanical Walk around Lake Hévíz
Nature lovers can discover the unique natural features of the Lake Hévíz area during a 2-hour professionally guided geobotanical walk covering approximately 3 km. Two qualified guides will introduce participants to the area’s natural characteristics and connect the experience with the results of the CROSSDEST project, offering an engaging insight into the local environment and its values.
12:30 – Lunch at Hévíz, Hungary
14:00 –Departure to Murska Sobota, Slovenia
15:30 – Experience Card – Discover Murska Sobota
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to discover how the innovative Experience Card connects accommodation providers with local attractions and experiences. Divided into small groups, participants will explore one of three local partners in Murska Sobota:
- Pomurje Museum
- Gallery Murska Sobota
- ZKTŠ Murska Sobota
Each visit will combine a short introduction to the CROSSDEST project and the Experience Card concept with an engaging museum, gallery or guided city experience. The experience will give participants a first-hand insight into how the Experience Card works and how accommodation providers, attractions and destination organisations can join forces to create a more connected and attractive tourism offer.
17:00 – Farewell and Departure – As the day closes, buses will take us home, carrying with us new memories, friendships, and inspiration.

Practical Information!
Free Participation: Thanks to the Interreg SI-HU programme and the co-financed project, participation in the event is free of charge. Complimentary bus transportation from Slovenia and Hungary will also be provided.
Registration: As spaces are limited, we encourage you to register by 15th September 2026.
Important Reminders: Participation is at your own risk. Please bring a valid ID (ID card or passport) if crossing the border. Remember, Slovenia’s currency is the Euro (EUR) and Hungarian forint (HUF). Dress appropriately for the outdoor activities.
