Prosenjakovci/Velemér/Magyarszombatfa, 20 September 2025 – A lively celebration of culture, tradition and networking took place on Saturday along the Slovenian-Hungarian border. The Interreg Cooperation Day 2025, which celebrated the power of European cross-border cooperation for the fourteenth consecutive year, brought together hundreds of visitors from both countries.
The European Commission has published a new call for proposals under the BRIDGEforEU Regulation (EU 2025/925), adopted on 7 May 2025. The call, launched in mid-August, aims to establish Cross-Border Coordination Points to address legal and administrative barriers in border regions.
At the MOS fair in Celje, Friday's program at the exhibition space of the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development (MKRR) was marked by cross-border cooperation. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the concrete results of Interreg programs and experience how cross-border projects contribute to the development of the region and the creation of new opportunities.
Tradition, knowledge-sharing, handmade creations, mouth-watering delicacies, and culture – this is how one could sum up the full-day programme that awaited visitors on Saturday, 24 May 2025, in Csörötnek, at the major event titled „What the Pumpkin Gives Us – From Pumpkin Seeds Across Generations to Healthy, ‘PUMP-KINED’ Everyday Life”.
The small-scale project SMARAGDITE adopts an integrated and innovative approach aimed at strengthening cross-border networking, supporting joint training and development objectives, and sustainably contributing to the region’s competitiveness.
At its 6th meeting in June 2025, the Monitoring Committee of the Slovenia-Hungary Interreg Programme together with approval of nine new standard projects also decided to close the currently running Open Call for proposals for standard projects and launched new Open call this autumn. The deadline for submission of applications under the new call is expected to be the second half of January 2026.
The EnerTy project focuses on reducing energy poverty through activities aimed at improving energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in households. In this way, the project not only contributes to environmental sustainability, but also to greater social justice and the well-being of residents.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Local Energy Agency Pomurje held a regional event as part of the EnerTy project, which was attended by organizations and institutions from Pomurje that regularly encounter the issue of energy poverty in their work.
One year ago, the Crafts4Future small-scale project successfully implemented several workshops focused on preserving handicraft heritage in the border area of Slovenia and Hungary. And the story continues.
At the 6th Monitoring Committee meeting of the Interreg Programme Slovenia-Hungary, held on 4-5 June 2025 in Lenti, Hungary, nine (9) new standard projects were successfully approved for co-financing with a total amount of € 3.905.274,57 in ERDF funding.
