Project overview
The CULTIVINE project focuses on connecting the rich wine and cultural heritage of Slovenia and Hungary to develop sustainable wine-cultural tourism. The regions of Pomurje and Zala County share a long history reflected in their viticulture traditions, celebrations, and cultural heritage. The project leverages this unique heritage to create new sustainable solutions and tourism products that enhance the cross-border region’s attractiveness year-round.
CULTIVINE aims to reduce seasonal fluctuations in wine-cultural tourism through innovative approaches that encourage visits during less popular periods. The main goals include developing cross-border thematic routes, creating sustainable events such as festivals and wine tradition celebrations, and introducing new digital solutions, such as a mobile digital interactive center. These efforts aim to increase the region’s visibility, strengthen stakeholder collaboration, and promote the sustainable development of local communities.
The project integrates wine and cultural heritage with local communities through a range of activities:
Analysis of Seasonal Trends and Development of Adaptable Tourism Products: A comprehensive analysis of visitor patterns at wine and cultural sites will identify key seasonal trends and opportunities for developing products such as winter holidays, autumn wine tastings, and cultural festivals.
Development of Cross-Border Thematic Routes: Based on the analysis results, the project will create sustainable thematic routes encouraging visitors to explore lesser-known locations and rural areas throughout the year.
Development of the CULTIVINE Mobile Digital Interactive Center: The center will offer visitors an innovative presentation of thematic routes and wine-cultural stories through VR displays, interactive guides, and multimedia content.
Organization of Cross-Border Events: Events like festivals and wine tradition celebrations will combine traditional elements, local wines, cuisine, and music, emphasizing sustainability and the use of local resources.
The project’s results will be sustainable and transferable. Models for managing seasonal fluctuations, thematic routes, and digital solutions will be publicly available for other regions and initiatives, enabling broader use and adaptation. Local stakeholders, including winemakers, cultural creators, and tourism providers, will gain the knowledge and tools needed for the long-term implementation and promotion of the developed offerings.
CULTIVINE builds on strong partnerships between project partners and local actors. Through workshops, knowledge exchange, and collaboration in events, winemakers, artists, restaurateurs, and other stakeholders will be encouraged to work closely together and co-create unique visitor experiences.
To boost visibility, the project will carry out targeted promotional activities, including digital campaigns, press conferences, media releases, and presentations at events. Special attention will be given to incorporating lesser-known areas and using digital platforms to reach a broader audience.
CULTIVINE will ensure the sustainable valorization of wine-cultural heritage and strengthen cross-border cooperation. The project will position the region as an attractive destination for wine-cultural tourism, contribute to sustainable development, and enhance the competitiveness of local communities. Its results and practices will also serve as valuable resources for other cross-border projects and similar initiatives across Europe.
