On 27 February 2026, the first ceremonial opening of the traveling exhibition organized as part of the Interreg Messages project took place in Szentgotth\u00e1rd. The exhibition, entitled “Light at the Border \u2013 In the Footsteps of Martyrs J\u00e1nos Brenner and Danijel Halas,” was created in the spirit of cross-border cooperation and shared historical memory.<\/p>\n

Bence S\u00e1rossy, director of MURABA, welcomed the attendees and presented the project. One of the main outcomes of the program is the Light at the Border pilgrimage route, which helps connect the two so-called capitals of the region, Szentgotth\u00e1rd and Lendava, and preserve the memory of the two martyrs.<\/p>\n

As part of the opening ceremony, historian Dr. Viktor Attila So\u00f3s and Ren\u00e1ta Sz\u00e9p talked about the two martyrs. Afterwards, Janez Magyar, mayor of Lendva, shared his family’s personal memories of Father Danijel Halas. The exhibition was officially opened by Szabolcs Fekete, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Szombathely.<\/p>\n

The exhibition presents the martyrs Blessed J\u00e1nos Brenner and Servant of God Danijel Halas through five thematic units with numerous interactive tasks. The main goal of the project is to use the pilgrimage and the traveling exhibition to make the example set by these two outstanding figures visible to younger generations, while also strengthening the cultural and tourist network between the Prekmurje and R\u00e1ba-vid\u00e9k regions.<\/p>\n

The exhibition can be visited until March 10 in Szentgotth\u00e1rd, in the gallery room of the parish church.<\/p>\n
