    A new foundation for integrating local products into tourism in the cross-border region<\/p>\n

    Within the framework of the CROSSDEST project, implemented with the participation of the Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation, two key professional documents have been completed, providing a comprehensive overview of the current situation of local products and outlining future directions for their integration into tourism. The analysis and the handbook together form a knowledge base that not only identifies challenges but also defines concrete development pathways for the Slovenian\u2013Hungarian border region.<\/p>\n

    The analytical document, based on questionnaires and local workshops, examines the activities, market opportunities and challenges of local producers in the region. The results clearly show that although the area has a diverse and high-quality range of local products, their integration into tourism remains limited. Most producers rely primarily on direct sales channels, while their presence in tourism services is sporadic and not based on long-term cooperation. The research also highlights that fragmented markets, low visibility, and regulatory and administrative barriers significantly hinder development.<\/p>\n

    One of the key conclusions of the analysis is that the main issue is not the lack of local products, but the absence of a structured system that effectively connects producers with tourism demand. While both local production and tourism potential are present, their interaction is not yet systematically organised.<\/p>\n

    Building on these findings, the \u201cHandbook of Good Practices for Local Products\u201d has been developed, presenting development directions and successful European examples. The document emphasises that successful models are characterised by network-based cooperation, quality assurance systems, and the integration of local products into the overall tourism experience rather than treating them as standalone elements.<\/p>\n

    The handbook outlines development directions across multiple levels, including destination-level coordination, institutional cooperation, and practical implementation at the local level. It highlights the importance of strengthening cooperation between producers and tourism service providers, developing experience-based tourism solutions, and integrating sustainability principles. Approaches such as local gastronomy based on regional ingredients, short supply chains, and circular economy solutions are identified as key factors for enhancing the region\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n

    The next phase of the project will focus on practical implementation, with pilot programmes testing the developed approaches in real conditions. This includes mapping local producers, creating a unified database, and organising workshops that facilitate direct interaction between producers and tourism stakeholders. These activities aim to foster cooperation and support the development of concrete partnerships.<\/p>\n

    The long-term goal of the CROSSDEST project is to make local products an integral part of the tourism offer, thereby strengthening the local economy and supporting sustainable regional development. The completed analysis and handbook provide a solid professional foundation for the next steps in this process.<\/p>\n
