We warmly invite you to the Ágoston Pável Memorial Day, held as part of the GUČIMO project, which will take place on 21 October 2026 at the Ágoston Pável Museum in Szentgotthárd. During the event, we will commemorate Ágoston Pável – ethnographer, the museum’s namesake, and the first Slovenian scholar in Hungary – on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his birth and the 80th anniversary of his death. During the workshop, we will watch a film highlighting the life and work of Ágoston Pável. Ethnographer Mária Mukicsné Kozár will give a lecture entitled “The ‘Slovenian Language in Hungary’ in the Works of Ágoston Pável”, focusing on the Slovenian dialect spoken in the region. An exhibition entitled “In Search of Slovenian Heritage” will open in one of the museum’s upstairs exhibition rooms. The day will conclude with light refreshments, offering an opportunity for informal discussion and conversation on the topics explored during the programme.
Participation is free of charge. To register, please contact Andrea Károly by email at muzeum@mfvk.hu or by phone at +36 20 236 4165.
