At the end of the first day of the two-day meeting, the Monitoring Committee members visited two of the successful projects of the 2014-2020 programming period.

The GardEN project aimed to increase the attractiveness of the rural area between Moravske Toplice and Lenti through the cross-border integration of sustainable tourism offer, focusing on the protection of cultural and natural heritage, the development of products and services in less developed rural areas linked to the tourist attractions, and the creation of innovative tourism programme packages. As a result of the activities carried out, the partners have developed the area based on small wonders, flowers and gardens, and energy as local conditions. On the theme of garden, the partners developed 5 products (fragrant and healing elderberries, healing buckwheat, snowflake, fairy garden, orchids). On the topic of energy a thematic route was developed. The four elements route of the GardEN Energy route is made up of earth energy sources and energy lines. The route goes around in a circle and is made up of four elements in four energy parks. These are the Lake Bukonivsko, The Saint Martin hill in Kobilje, Márokföld and finally the Saint George’s park in Lenti, which was visited by the members of the MC.

Within the framework of the IronCurtainCycling project, the partnership worked for 3,5 years to create a common cycling tourist destination in the border region. As a result of the complex developments, a coherent cycling network was established along the EV13 cycling route, several cycling-friendly service areas were created, and joint cross-border packages were developed. Thanks to the activities of the project, the Slovenian-Hungarian border region became even more attractive for bicycle tourists. Within the project, among others, an integrated network of cycling routes across the Slovenian and Hungarian borders with a total length of 344,3 km, and a 1,93 km long bicycle connection between Lendvadedes-Dedeskecskés (HU) and Dolga Vas (SI) was established. During the project visit, the MC members also visited this cycle route and then made a visit to the Vinarium in Lendava, which offers a wonderful view of the Slovenian-Hungarian-Croatian border.

Congratulations to all partners of the selected projects!
