The implementation of the Right Skills 4U project / Skills and abilities in the centre of career orientation started on 1 October 2023. The project partners implement interactive sessions, professional, – and problem-solving competitions, professional days, and company visits in order to know and develop the students’ abilities and skills.

From the end of 2023, and in the year of 2024, many programs were implemented within the project: thirteen company visits, thirteen interactive sessions which aimed to familiarize students with various professions; two career orientation professional days; and two communication workshops were also organized. From the two countries hundreds of students participated to the events, who had opportunity to know better some professions, such as carpenter, chef, confectioner, logistics technician, electrician, and mechanical engineer, among others. The events were implemented at various vocational schools and the Vocational Training Center, and the first career orientation professional day – in connection with the World Tourism Day – was implemented at the Sárvár Thermal and Wellness Bath and the Park Inn Sárvár Resort & Spa Hotel.

On 26 February, 2025 there was a competition called “Show me what you know!” – profession in a fun way, with the aim to popularize the tourism and hospitality profession. The event was organized at the III. Béla Technical School and College in Szentgotthárd. Teams of Hungarian and Slovenian students participated in the competition; the Slovenian children came from a bilingual school, so there were no language difficulties.

The event was opened by the Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia, Dubravka Šekoranja. After that, the competition began with the presentations of the short films prepared by the students, in which they presented the tourist attractions and/or gastronomy of their school and their living environment.

After that the students took part in interactive tasks: in the morning session the student’s task was to fold napkins, moreover to recognize famous national dishes, tourist attractions, exotic fruits, kitchen tools. The students had opportunity to know better how to make cocktails, their task was to produce “Cinderella cocktail” with cocktail fruits, and juice. After the lunch the task was to shape fairy tale characters on a plastic, styrofoam cake, after this to recognize different food with their closed eyes. The four-member jury evaluated the teams by scoring.

The following event within the project will be a workshop on how to communicate with young people, which will take place on 13 March, 2025; this will be followed by company visits, a problem-solving competition, and a career orientation professional day. The project is scheduled to complete its activities by 30 September, 2025.
