On April 29, 2026, a workshop titled “Cultural Heritage as an Opportunity for Tourism and Tourism Providers” was held in Szentgotthárd in the Slovenian House as part of the GUČIMO project. The aim of the event was to highlight the potential of cultural heritage in tourism development and to strengthen cross-border cooperation among stakeholders in the region.
The programme began with a presentation of the GUČIMO project, offering participants an overview of its objectives, key activities, and expected results. This was followed by a guided discussion focusing on the tourism offer of the Rába region (Porabje). Participants – including local tourism providers, cultural professionals, and other stakeholders – actively contributed to the discussion by sharing their experiences and ideas, and by jointly reflecting on opportunities for further development in the region.
An important element of the workshop was the active involvement of participants in shaping future project activities. Through the completion of a short survey, attendees were able to provide valuable input that will support the planning of upcoming initiatives and development directions.
The professional programme was complemented by a refreshment break, which also provided an opportunity for informal networking and exchange of ideas among participants.
The event concluded with the ceremonial opening of a photographic exhibition by Artúr Ekler titled “Ours (Prekmurje and Porabje)”. The exhibition offered a visual insight into the cultural and natural heritage of the region, reinforcing the key message of the workshop: that preserving and promoting local heritage can play a vital role in sustainable tourism development.
The workshop successfully contributed to strengthening professional dialogue and fostering cooperation among participants. The GUČIMO project will continue to support similar initiatives aimed at connecting cultural heritage and tourism in the cross-border area.
