On Saturday, 21 March 2026, a clean-up action was organised and successfully carried out within the framework of the Aquanature project along the Kobiljski Stream. The action was implemented by the Interreg partnership with the aim of contributing to the preservation of a clean and healthy environment and increasing awareness among the local community about the importance of protecting aquatic ecosystems and wetlands.

The action was attended by a considerable number of local residents and employees of JZ KPG, reflecting a high level of awareness regarding the importance of caring for nature. Such events not only result in tangible outcomes in the form of a cleaner environment but also strengthen community ties and foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment in which we live.

The event began with an introductory address in which the importance of watercourses and wetlands for maintaining biodiversity, water quality, and natural balance was presented. Particular emphasis was placed on the impact of human activities on aquatic ecosystems and the importance of proper waste management. Participants were also provided with instructions for the safe and effective implementation of the clean-up action, after which groups were formed and sent out into the field.

Special attention was given to the youngest participants, for whom a short educational programme was conducted along the stream. In an engaging and age-appropriate way, they were introduced to the life found in watercourses, their importance, and how they themselves can contribute to nature conservation. Such activities play a key role in developing a responsible attitude towards the environment from an early age.

During the action, a significant amount of various types of waste was collected. Although no large bulky waste was detected, the presence of hazardous waste, including asbestos, was of concern. This highlights that, despite progress in awareness-raising, cases of improper waste disposal still occur.

The conclusion of the action took place in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Participants gathered at a nearby inn, where refreshments were provided, offering an opportunity for socialising and exchanging impressions. Such conclusions further strengthen the sense of community and motivation for future activities.

Within the Aquanature project, sincere thanks were expressed to all participants, especially the members and residents of the local community of Motvarjevci, who made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the action. Through joint efforts, it was once again confirmed that positive environmental changes can be achieved through responsible behaviour and cooperation.

The action serves as an important reminder that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that even small steps can lead to significant changes.
