As part of the “HOUSES to go” project, we are continuing our series of thematic workshops, which aim to share practical knowledge and tools for operating country houses and local history collections. The next workshop is titled “Managing Ethnographic Collections and Creating Conditions for Hosting Visitors in a Country House Setting.”
The workshop will take place on April 20, 2026, in Szombathely, at the Vasi Skanzen – Szima Mill. The event is intended for staff, mentors, and partners of local history museums, as well as other interested tourism professionals. The program begins with registration and opening remarks, followed by professional presentations focusing on practical aspects of collection management, with particular attention to the effects of weather conditions and the proper cataloging of objects, supplemented by theoretical and practical elements. Throughout the day, the themes of authentic collections and the transmission of authentic knowledge will play a prominent role, including a hands-on craft workshop. The remainder of the program will feature a guided tour of the open-air museum, followed by a presentation of the Slovenian smokehouse. The event is expected to contribute to strengthening professional cooperation and to foster the development of new, joint initiatives.
