On 29 June 2026, the final conference of the project Untold Stories – Pilgrimage along the Hungarian–Slovenian Border was held at the Theatre and Concert Hall in Lendava. 

The event commenced at 9:00 a.m. with welcome addresses delivered by:

  • Janez Magyar, Mayor of the Municipality of Lendava,
  • Franc Režonja, Episcopal Vicar for National Communities,
  • Dr Judit Zágorec Csuka, Director of the Lendava Library and Cultural Centre.

The conference continued with presentations by the project partners, who shared their experiences gained during the implementation of the project and reflected on ways to build on the achieved results and ensure their long-term sustainability and integration into future activities.

The programme featured the following speakers:

  • Dr Balázs Zágorhidi Czigány, historian and museologist, who presented the opportunities for developing religious and cultural tourism;
  • Bence Sárossy, Director of Muraba EGTC, who introduced the Messages project; and
  • Bernadett Sali from the Vas County Government Office, who presented the involvement of young people in the project and the results of the art competition.

The conference concluded at 11:30 a.m.

The project’s main objective is to introduce younger generations to the inspiring examples of the martyrs János Brenner and Danijel Halas through a pilgrimage route and a travelling exhibition, while strengthening the cultural and tourism network between the Prekmurje region in Slovenia and the Porabje (Rába Valley) region in Hungary.
