At the Island of Love in Ižakovci, on Saturday, 27 June at 2 p.m., next to the mill on the Mura River, the newly established Museum of Mills of Slovenia and Hungary will be officially presented to the public. It is a unique museum of its kind within the cross-border programme area of the Interreg Slovenia–Hungary Programme.
With the aim of fostering cooperation, preserving cultural and technical heritage, and jointly promoting their activities, 13 mills from Slovenia and Hungary have joined together. Their common goal is to increase the visibility of the mills and attract as many visitors as possible.
The mills are formally connected through the Association of the scattered Museum of Mills of Slovenia and Hungary, which will coordinate future activities related to the preservation of cultural and technical heritage, as well as the development and promotion of the milling tourism offer across the wider region.
During the event, the leadership of the association will introduce itself and present its plans and future directions. An accompanying programme will further enrich the occasion.
Representatives of the mills included in the Distributed Museum of Mills of Slovenia and Hungary will receive an official sign of membership and inclusion in the museum network. The sign will be displayed in a prominent place at each participating mill.
