The development of rural tourism in the Slovenian-Hungarian border region, tourism based on local values and cross-border cooperation were at the centre of the presentation on the RE-ACTION project at the Tourism Professional Day in Sárvár.
The first Slovene-Hungarian Rural Tourism Academy event brought together project partners and tourism providers to explore the six points of the digital guest journey and practical AI tools.
The RE-ACTION project was presented to visitors at ÖKO-EXPO in Szombathely on 17–18 September 2026, highlighting the potential of sustainable rural tourism and cross-border cooperation in the Slovenian-Hungarian border region.
The first event of the Slovenian–Hungarian Rural Tourism Academy, organised within the RE-ACTION project, welcomes rural tourism businesses with practical knowledge and inspiring examples.
Between April and the end of June 2026, the five RE-ACTION project partners conducted 55 in-depth interviews with rural tourism providers in Pomurje, Vas and Zala counties.
RE-ACTION joined the C4F-ELEVATE professional event in Oszkó, where Hungarian and Slovenian participants explored how crafts, local initiatives and cooperation can strengthen sustainable rural tourism.
The first major professional outcome of the RE-ACTION project will be a joint, cross-border Rural Tourism Vision, providing long-term direction for tourism stakeholders in the Slovenian–Hungarian border region. This vision builds on the opportunities of slow, active, and digital detox tourism, aiming for sustainable development based on cooperation.
