You are invited to attend the family cycling event (Hungary) on Saturday, 14 September 2019 in the framework of the European Cooperation Day (EC DAY) 2019.
The event is organized by the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy in the framework of three cross-border cooperation program Interreg V-A Slovenia-Hungary in cooperation with the project Iron curtain cycling. The event is free for the participants.
Cycling will take place in the area of implementation of the IronCurtainCycling project co-financed under the Interreg Slovenia-Hungary program. The beginning and end of the cycling will be in Páka in Hungary, and cycling will be possible in two ways:
- Small cycling marathon– above 6 years of age: approx. 34 km, 50 altitude meters:
Páka – Szécsisziget– Lovászi (refreshment station) – Máhomfa – Lentiszombathely (refreshment station) – Csömödér – Páka (concluding with a snack). Cycling time: appr. 4 hours - Grand cycling marathon – 14 éven felüliek részére: – approx. 80 km, 450 meters height:
Páka – Lentiszombathely – (10 min stop, joining point) – Lenti – (border SLO / HU) – Dobronak / Dobrovnik (refreshment station) – Lendva / Lendava – Lendava-hill (10min stop, Hadik Chapel) – (border SLO / HU) –Tenkehegy (refreshment station) – Lendvadedes – Gosztola – Máhomfa – Szécsisziget – Páka (concluding with a snack). Cycling time: appr. 5 hours
This year participants of the event can instead of cycling join walking tours:
- Shorter Walking tour – approx. 5 km
Guided tour around the village Páka, visiting the Memorial House of Professor Öveges, traditional house in Dömefölde, bunkers, Roman catholic church. The tour will be guided in Hungarian, Slovene translation is provided.
- Longer Walking tour – approx. 15 km
Eco-touristic experiences by walking along the Válicka stream. Guided walking tour, getting acquainted with the forests of Zala county, fauna and flora in the vicinity of the Válicka stream. The tour will be guided in Hungarian, English translation is provided.

- Health screening examinations (pressure measurement, blood sugar, body mass index),

The organizers provide an escort on the routes (cycling and walking), free refreshments on the cycling tracks and food at the end, and you a good mood! Participants are also provided with free hire of trekking bikes or e-Bikes, for which you will need a personal document. The number of bikes is limited. All registered participants of the event will also receive a promotional gift.
As the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to register as soon as possible. Participation at the event is at your own risk. If you join us and you will need to cross the border, please make sure to carry the valid identity document (personal, passport). Keep in mind that the official currancy in Hungry is forint (HUF).
