Where cooperation matters – a threefold win: bringing closer the cultural heritage of the border region to Slovenian and Hungarian pupils, gaining experience in an interactive way through storytelling and making efficient use of the e-documenta Pannonica web portal

Thanks to the contribution of the „EU in my school” initiative the Pomurje Museum Murska Sobota has found a new way of awakening young people’s interest in the cultural heritage of the cross-border region with the help of which pupils’ experiences are forged into stories that not only inform, but also inspire the inhabitants in the region.

There are a lot of successful and good examples about how to render the historic and cultural heritage of a region attractive in such a way that the youth of today would explore it with pleasure.

Luckily we have such an example in the Interreg V-A Slovenia-Hungary Cooperation Programme, which is a web portal established by the project partnership of the e-documenta Pannonica.

This year, thanks to the „EU in my school (EUIMS)” campaign initiated by the European Commission, approximately 100 students of 5 Slovenian and Hungarian schools will be able to participate in activities which will help them explore the treasures of the past of their immediate living environment.

Regarding the schools, the colleagues of the Pomurski Muzej Murska Sobota (which is the Lead Partner of the e-documenta Pannonica project and at the same time the operator of the web portal) will first pay a visit to schools. They will introduce the project and the portal to the pupils who will then travel to the museum to find out what is hidden within museum exhibition. Finally, they will take part in a creative storytelling workshop – vively activity that will help pupils process their experience in a form that they can share a story with others: their peers, friends and family.

Please join us to follow this journey and the events of the „EU in my school (EUIMS)” campaign within the Interreg SI-HU programme.
