The European Commission has approved the Interreg VI-A Slovenia-Hungary programme for period 2021–2027 with the Commission decision as of 14 November 2022.

The new cross-border cooperation programme Slovenia-Hungary is the continuation of a cooperation process, which started in the middle of the 90s under trilateral and bilateral compositions (Austria-Slovenia-Hungary, Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia, and Slovenia-Hungary cross-border cooperation programmes). The programme is focusing on a limited number of thematic areas and will pool resources to drive the change and take opportunity for increased level of cooperation capacity, new development and common solutions to challenges identified.

For more information click on Interreg programme or Citizens summary in English language. Also translated versions into national languages will be soon available and published on the web page of the programme.

All interested stakeholders in the programme area are invited to closely follow the upcoming Call for Proposals, which is planned to be published on the programme’s website in February or March 2023. The Programme operates on the basis of the Open Call system. This means that applicants can submit project applications continuously after the Open Call is launched as long as funds are available.

The first deadline for the submission of project applications will be in spring 2023. Together with the Open Call all relevant guidelines and information will be published.

With experience and EU funding, we help Slovenian and Hungarian organisations to cooperate and put their ideas into practice. These ideas need to fit into one of three thematic priorities defined by this programme:

The programme includes the following NUTS3 regions:

  • in Slovenia Pomurje and Podravje and
  • in Hungary Vas and Zala
